PAGES 2025 OSM and YSM Gender Equity and Diversity Statement

Past Global Changes (PAGES) seeks to promote the involvement of all scientists worldwide, in particular early-career researchers (ECRs) and scientists from low- and middle-income countries. PAGES facilitates activities that address past changes in the Earth system in order to improve projections of future climate and environment, and inform strategies for sustainability. The 2025 Open Science Meeting (OSM) and associated Young Scientists Meeting (YSM) aim to promote interdisciplinary scientific exchange and international cooperation in past global change research, and to contribute to all aspects of past changes in key components of the Earth's surface system (air, water, ice, land, life, society, etc.) across timescales.

PAGES 2025 OSM and YSM are committed to ensuring broad representation in all their objectives, and to be a beacon for best practice in gender equity, diversity and inclusiveness in membership, activities, events, programs, and services.

Broader aspects of diversity include (but are not limited to) race, religion, geographic location, disability, gender identity and sexual orientation. We aim to provide a safe, respectful, and harassment-free conference environment for everyone involved, regardless of age, sex, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, (dis)ability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, nationality, marital status, military status, veteran status, religious beliefs, dietary requirements, childbirth- and pregnancy-related (medical) conditions or childcare requirements.

PAGES 2025 OSM and YSM acknowledges that gender equity is a key factor in achieving excellence in paleoscience research. Achieving gender equity and diversity requires active input from individuals to support, embrace, and speak out about barriers. We encourage all participants, whether attending virtually or in-person, to help us achieve our gender equity and diversity goals in all your duties and activities, and in accordance with your position.
